National Employment Registry — Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the National Employment Registry (“NER,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit nationalemploymentregistry.net, create an account, submit a job seeker profile, register as an employer, or otherwise use NER services.
By using the NER, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy, including the placing of your data into the public domain. If you do not agree, do not use the NER. This Policy should be read with our Terms of Use Terms of Use.
2. Who We Are
The NER is an online registry intended to connect IT and cybersecurity job seekers with employers. Employer search access is provided at no charge. Job seeker listing access may be provided through an individual plan or through a participating institution.
The NER is operated in connection with Sterling Technologies Group. Questions about this Policy may be sent to CustomerService@NationalEmploymentRegistry.net.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, information created when you use the site, and information from service providers that help us operate the NER.
Account and contact information. Name, email address, username, password, phone number, and similar registration details for job seekers and employers.
Job seeker profile information. Address or location, desired work location, employment field, key skills, certifications, education, work experience, résumé or other uploaded files, and other information you choose to include in your profile.
Employer information. Organization or contact details you submit when registering or using employer search tools.
Institution information. Institution codes, organization identity, and related records used to confirm that a job seeker’s listing is covered by an institutional agreement rather than individual billing.
Payment information. If you pay individually, payment is processed by our payment provider (for example, Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on NER systems. The provider may collect card details, billing address, and transaction records according to its own policy.
Technical and usage information. IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, dates and times of access, referring URL, and similar log data. If GDPR-style data minimization is enabled on our forms, some of this technical data may not be stored with form entries.
Communications. Messages you send to customer service or other correspondence related to your account.
Security tools. We use Google reCAPTCHA and similar tools to help prevent automated abuse. Google may collect device and usage data as described in Google’s privacy policy.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and administer accounts;
- Build, display, search, and update job seeker profiles for participating employers;
- Operate employer search and profile-review tools;
- Process payments or apply institution-paid access;
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries;
- Protect the security and integrity of the NER, including fraud and abuse prevention;
- Meet legal, accounting, and contractual obligations;
- Improve the site and communicate service-related notices;
- Enforce our Terms of Use and other policies.
We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood in a data-broker sense. Job seeker profiles are made available to registered employers for legitimate employment-related review, which is the purpose of the registry.
5. How Profiles Are Shared
Public Accessibility. By submitting information, you acknowledge and agree that it may be published online and accessible to the general public. Do not include confidential, sensitive, or personally identifying information unless you are comfortable with it being publicly available. Once posted, the information may be copied, stored, or redistributed by others and it may not be possible to remove completely. Information in a job seeker profile—including skills, certifications, education, experience, location preferences, and résumé become available to the public. It should also be noted that NER does not vet employers.
Employers Accounts. Information that a job seeker voluntarily includes in a profile—including skills, certifications, education, experience, location preferences, and any résumé—may be viewed by users with employer accounts. Job seekers should treat all information included in their profiles as publicly accessible and must not include Social Security numbers, birth dates, financial information, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information.
Institution partners. If you register with an institution code, the related institution may receive limited information needed to administer seats, billing, or program participation (for example, that you registered under that code).
Service providers. We use vendors to host the website, process forms, process payments, provide security (including reCAPTCHA), send email, and store files. They may process information only as needed to provide those services.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, necessary to protect rights or safety, or necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
Business transfers. If the NER or related operations are transferred, information may be included as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The NER and its providers may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, maintain security, and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser. Disabling cookies may limit some features, including login.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and profile information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for operations, disputes, security, and legal requirements. Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. You may request account closure or profile removal as described below.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No online service is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for notifying us if you believe your account has been misused.
9. Your Choices and Requests
Depending on applicable law and your account type, you may be able to:
- Review and update profile information while logged in;
- Request correction of inaccurate information;
- Request deletion or deactivation of your account or profile;
- Ask how your information is used or shared.
Send requests to CustomerService@NationalEmploymentRegistry.net. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We may decline or limit a request where we must keep records for legal, security, or operational reasons.
10. Children’s Privacy
The NER is intended for individuals who can enter a binding agreement and participate in employment-related activity. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International Users
The NER is operated for use in connection with United States employment activity. If you access the NER from another country, your information may be processed in the United States. Where required by law, additional notices or rights may apply.
12. Third-Party Sites
The NER may link to third-party sites or tools. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for those sites.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date will change when we post a revised version. Material changes may also be noted on the site or by email where appropriate. Continued use of the NER after an update means you acknowledge the revised Policy.
